How High Event Flying Results

The how high event was a great success and a good time was had by all that attended. Beginning with our award winning “Cajun Blackened Hot Dogs” Whew Doggies! Some tasty vittles!!

Within the three classes of GLOW, GAS and ELECTRIC, Prizes were given to 1st, 2nd, and 3RD place.

Pilots Included:

Jeremy Roddoch... GLOW
ShermanTrahan... ELECTRIC
Jimmy Marks
Larry Scheuermann... GAS
Raymond Dore’
Jim Harris... ELECTRIC
Chris Shadle... ELECTRIC
Kevin Wood... GLOW, GAS
Charles Gardner... GAS

Both Planes and records were broken at the event. With high patchy clouds and winds ranging from 10 to 15 mph, some were forced to sit it out and watch the fun. A lot of time was spent waiting for the clouds to part. Early on, “Margo” flown by Kevin Woods, after a successful climb of 2118ft, decided she’d had enough and quit! Citing, she’d froze her tail feathers off on that last climb and no way would she try that again!! Not to worry, Kevin still had GAS….As did we all… thanks to the Hot Dogs.

Not to be out done, Jeremy Roddoch’s plane hit the ground and expired… no, not from the air… from the table! Gee, first time that’s ever happened J but not before a successful climb of 1987ft. giving him 2nd place in the GLOW class.

Yes, records were shattered folks. Charles Gardner Flying his “Patty” was not satisfied with his first attempt at breaking Bruce McKenzie’s record of 4175ft. After his first flight of 3527ft, his second attempt landed him the record and 1st place with 4485ft. Well done Charles!

The final results were as follows:

GAS
1st Charles Gardner – 4485ft
2nd Kevin Woods – 3790ft
3rd Larry Scheuermannn – 3740ft

GLOW
Kevin Woods – 2118ft
Jeremy Roddoch – 1987ft

ELECTRIC
Sherman Trahan – 1961ft
Chris Shadle – 1350ft
Jim Harris – 1161ft

Special thanks and a heartfelt belch goes out to Sherman Trahan for cookin’ up the dogs, and also thanks to John Woods for the loan of the Altimeter. I think everyone had a good time, hope we can do it again next year.
